| Electronics Industry |
KASIL® Electronic Grade potassium
silicates are used as phosphor binders and settling agents in the manufacture of
CRTs. Sodium Silicates are used to make precipitated silica for wafer polishing. |
Health and Beauty Industry |
Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate heptahydrate) is used as a foot soak and
a body soak to soothe tired muscles and to reduce soreness. It is used in bath
salts and in flotation tanks. It is repackaged for Over the Counter(OTC) medicinal use as a foot
and body soak, and as a laxative. |
| Metal Finishing |
Soluble silicates are used in
metal finishing for corrosion protection and for sealing porous castings. In
addition, they are used as a binder for flux for welding rods, and as a
viscosity modifier for extrusion mixes. Soluble silicates are used for foundry
molds and cores also. |
| Paints and Coatings |
Soluble silicates are used as a
vehicle to bind pigments and other powdered materials to surfaces. They are used
as a coating to increase surface strength, to create decorative effects, and to
produce heat resistant and intumescent films. |
| Waste Treatment |
Soluble silicates
are used in solidification/stabilization processes to stabilize heavy metals and
various hazardous organic and inorganic substances in an acid-resistant matrix. |
